Good Shoes

Small Town Girl

This is the Mordern World! Having put Paul Merton's birthplace on the map, Good Shoes deliver another perfectly crafted indie vignette about suburban aspirations gone sour. "She used to go to Raynes Park High School/Now she lives in Hollywood, up in the hills" confides Rhys Jones, alluding - so rumour has it - to former schoolmate Keira Knightley. "I say you've got it made/She says money honey darling just can't buy me everything" he continues, while knob-twiddler to the stars Stephen Street puts guitars and handclaps in all the right places. The post-modern 'Common People', we reckon.
