Our Geniuses will answer all your technical questions, troubleshoot problems, and explain it all in language that’s easy to understand.

 
 

What is the Genius Bar?
The Genius Bar is the place to go for advice, insight, and hands-on technical support for your Mac or iPod. Consultation at the Genius Bar works by reservation only.

Who works at the Genius Bar?
Mac Geniuses — selected by Apple — are the most knowledgeable Mac people. Trained at Apple’s California headquarters, the Geniuses have broad expertise and know virtually all there is to know about your Mac or iPod.

Why visit the Genius Bar?
Mac Geniuses provide face-to-face tips and advice, answer your questions, and do repairs when necessary. You might be wondering how to go wireless, how to download music to your iPod, or how to update your software. Mac Geniuses are there to help with your technical concerns.

How should I prepare for my Technical Support session?
Gather together the equipment you plan to bring in and any notes about the problem you’re encountering. If you’ve spoken to a Genius in a store on this issue or called AppleCare, note your case number or repair/dispatch number. Write down a list of questions you want to cover. Make sure you back up your data prior to a consultation. We are not responsible for loss of data.

What should I bring with me to the store for my Technical Support session?
For a Mac issue, bring the computer, power adapter, battery, and any accessories (wireless mouse, etc.) that might be involved. For an iPod issue, bring the iPod as well as the headphones, cable, dock, and power adapter. Bring your notes, case numbers (if applicable), and your list of questions.

What should I do when I arrive at the store for my session?
When you arrive, head to the Genius Bar, where you will see your name on the LCD screen. Please check in with a Mac Genius or another staff member.

What should I expect from my Technical Support session?
When it’s time for your Technical Support session, you will be given a seat at the Genius Bar and room to place your equipment on the counter. The Genius will look up information about your system and work with you to resolve your issue or answer your questions. If a repair is needed, the Genius will explain your repair options and any applicable charges, and check in the equipment. The session will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on the issue. The Genius may run diagnostic tests on your system and consult with other customers during the run time.
