The New York Dolls

Take the homosexuality of Glam Rock and the untalented requirement to play Punk and combine them to make The New York Dolls. It's known to be the band that created punk by "inspiring" almost every douchebag with an instrument to go to their shows, including members of The Ramones. But because they were so shitty, they didn't even get a terrible, uninspired, Cover Album dedicated to them. Which might be a good thing in retrospect.
