In amongst all the many activities the Regiment is involved
in, sport plays a vital part in breaking the working routine
and giving members of the Regiment a chance to unwind and
develop team work outside of the workplace. The pictures above show the
Christmas football competition in which teams comprised
on Officers, Warrant Officers and Sergeants, and junior
ranks play each other. Unsurprisingly, the junior soldiers' team won.
Other prominent sports include rugby, hockey and
orienteering. There are many clubs to cater for all tastes including diving,
cross country and basketball. Wattisham also has a 9 hole golf course and its own swimming pool
and gym.
4 Regiment - Adventure Training.
We
are very proud of the fact that in one six month period over
half the Regiment took part in at least one adventure training
exercise - some lucky people manage to get two or more under
their belts. Despite being the busiest Regiment in the Corps
in 2005, adventure training exercises took place in Germany
(this is 669 Squadron pictured right), over 100 people went
skiing in Austria and Switzerland, 50 took part in trekking
and canoeing in France, as well as several other exercises
in Wales, Cornwall and the Lake District.
