my great grandfather Walter I. Phelps donated all of the pink granite from his land in troy oklahoma that was used in the building of the Oklahoma State capitol. This granite came from the well known site, Ten Acre Rock in Troy, Ok. The remains of ten acre rock are now a memorial to my great grand father. you can still see the quarry that the granite was blasted from, and see where the railroad tracks were, as a track was placed when the granite was being removed from the site. the land is still in my family. my great grand mother told me that they homsteaded when Oklahoma was still called Indian Territory. My great grand mother was postmaster in Troy,Ok. the place is rich with Oklahoma history and has been passed down with each generation. My great grand mother wrote her life story prior to her passing in her home in Troy she was nearly 100 yrs old. Her grand daughter is an author and has just published a book called "Tishomingo" by Mary Hughes.

How do we get rid of the daylight savings time change? My kids used to get up at 6am to catch a 6:45am bus, now they get up at 5am to catch a 5:45am bus. Do you know what 2nd and 3rd graders are learning in school? They are learning algebra and geometry!!! Add that to being tired and school bus drivers that are tired; what can we do????
