Local Catholics lend a hand in flooded Gays Mills

When we hear the expression "mission trip," many of us conjure up thoughts of journeying to remote villages in third-world countries. It's not often we think of mission trips within our own state or county.
The fact is, however, that there are people in need everywhere.
"To me, a mission is helping others that are less fortunate or are unable to do certain things for themselves for whatever reason," explained Mike Dominski of St. Dominic Parish, Brookfield.
Dominski and others recently traveled to Gays Mills in Vernon County on the western border of Wisconsin where flooding had damaged or destroyed numerous homes.
"I saw disaster of land, roads, bridges and homes. But what I didn't see was the disaster of faith," Dominski said.
