Victorian Teachers' strike for better wages

To the teachers' strike. More than 10,000 teachers rallied yesterday in a show of force greater than that seen during the turbulent Kennett years. They wanted to send the State Government a clear message about the strike - this is more than just a dispute over pay.

While teachers speak passionately about their work, they are despairing about what they see as the devaluing of their profession. Stateline met with four dedicated teachers yesterday to hear their views about the issues behind the strike.

Faye Lynam speaks about her anger over Brendan Nelson's speech to parliament on the Stolen Generations

As much of the nation stopped to listen to Parliament's apology to the Stolen Generations, one Victorian woman received a rude shock. Faye Lynam says the pain of being taken from her father has been exacerbated by being the subject of the Opposition leader's speech. Brendan Nelson used part of her story to justify the separation of some families.

Liberals and Nationals form a coalition agreement in Victoria

There was a sense of deja vu in Victorian politics this week as the conservative parties returned to a Coalition after eight years. The marriage of the Liberals and Nationals is designed to boost their chances of defeating the Brumby Government at the next election.

But as Josephine Cafagna reports, there are plenty of obstacles to be cleared before they reach their goal.

To a heart warming story about three men sharing a very personal mission. The trio are all heart transplant recipients and they're using their second chance at life to give back to the community.
