  • 9th Annual PlanetOut Short Movie Awards
PlanetOut is proud to announce the Ninth Annual PlanetOut Short Movie Awards!

In addition to being recognized as one of the largest and most prestigious online filmmaking competitions anywhere, the PlanetOut Short Movie Awards produce stars.

Director Angela Robinson's career took off after her film "D.E.B.S." took home the PlanetOut Short Movie Awards Grand Prize in 2003. Not only was the film produced as a full-length feature starring Jordana Brewster, but Robinson went on to direct Lindsay Lohan in "Herbie Fully Loaded" and has directed several episodes of "The L Word."

Since nabbing the 2002 PlanetOut Short Movie Award for her short film "Stuck," Jamie Babbitt has gone on to become one of the most successful indie directors in Hollywood. In addition to directing the critically acclaimed comedy "But I'm a Cheerleader!," Babbitt has directed episodes of TV's "Alias," "Malcolm in the Middle," "Gilmore Girls," "Nip/Tuck" and numerous others. Babbitt's next film, the POWER UP-produced "Itty Bitty Titty Committee," hits theaters this fall.

Robinson and Babbitt are just two of the many PlanetOut Short Movie Awards winners who've gone on to major success in Hollywood -- and now it could be your turn.

Beginning in August 31,2007, any aspiring filmmaker can submit his or her short film into the competition. Our jury of industry professionals will select a Grand Prize winner, as well as four runners-up.

Not only will the grand prize winner receive a cash prize of $10,000, but the winners of the PlanetOut Short Movie Award will be announced to the world -- not to mention the most talented and influential filmmakers in Hollywood -- at the next Sundance Film Festival!

The films of all finalists will also be streamed on Gay.com and PlanetOut.com and will be accessible to our combined monthly audience of 4.5 million.

So what are you waiting for? You've got between now and December 7, 2007 to enter your amazing (and potentially star-making) short film into the ninth annual PlanetOut Short Movie Awards!
