While the nation was obsessed with fearing and finding Andrew Cunanan, few seemed to realize that this "gay killer" wasn’t just a "homicidal homosexual" — he was multiracial. Although his father came from the Philippines, even the FBI declared him to be white. Why was the nation unable to read his identities? How did Cunanan himself manipulate the nation’s simplistic readings of race in order to fashion multiple selves?
