The Police unveil final tour dates
The trio plans to launch its swan-song outing May 1 in Ottawa, and will spend the remainder of that month hitting about a dozen US cities. A European tour follows in June, and a second batch of US shows is set for July and August, with the group eyeing an Aug. 4 finale at Jones Beach in New York.
Tickets for most of the North American dates will be priced at $225, $90 and $50 in most markets (plus applicable service fees), and the bulk of those will hit the box office Feb. 23-25, according to organizers. Details are shown in the itinerary below, and information about the Euro outing is available at the band's website.
Speculation of a possible new Police album has run rampant due to the reunion tour's success, but band members have, in recent days, told various news outlets that they have no plans to work together after the tour ends in August.
News of what appears to be the band's farewell tour likely is bittersweet for fans who had hoped that the reunion outing might lead to a permanent arrangement, but devotees can find some consolation in the group's reported plans to release a live DVD comprised of concert footage shot in South America last December. A release date has not been announced.
