"Prayer" is the first single from Disturbed's 2002 album Believe. "Prayer" is the band's most successful single on the Modern Rock Tracks. It is a conversation between lead singer David Draiman and God after the death of his grandfather. In the music video the members of Disturbed have traumatic experiences; David (singer) walks through an earthquake, Dan (guitarist) crashes his car, Mike (drummer) gets knocked down by an explosion, and Fuzz (bassist) is almost crushed by scaffolding.
The video for this song was banned in the US by MTV and other music television channels for having imagery too similar to that of 9-11 when in reality, the footage is of an earthquake causing buildings to crumble in a city other than New York. The only US channel to air the video for a long time was Fuse TV.
It is also the theme song for professional wrestler Messiah in the CZW promotion.
