Lou and The Beat

by Ricki Ptakowski

Sixers guard Lou Williams was behind the microphone for the debut of his new radio show, “The Lou Williams Show,” this past Sunday. He has teamed up with 100.3 The Beat on the show, which is being broadcast live on Sundays from 12:00 - 4:00 PM

The idea came from Williams' step-father, Mitch Faulkner, who produces the syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show," which is based out of La Grange, GA. Williams got together with 100.3 The Beat to see if they could do a similar show with Williams as host.

Williams doesn’t plan to give up his day job, but he said the show is great opportunity to promote the Sixers as well as 100.3 The Beat. The show will focus on a variety of topics ranging from basketball to entertainment issues, but Williams says the best part is connecting with the fans.

“Fans can call into the show and get a chance to meet me,” Williams said. “It gives them a different way to interact with the players.”

Williams said of all the things that go into hosting a radio show, the hardest part was trying to get the call number right.

“The first couple of talk breaks were a little rough, it was my first time ever doing it live," Williams said. “I have been interviewed on the radio [before], but it’s a different thing when you're the aggressor, when you're trying to get quotes and interacting with people; but an hour into it I was a seasoned vet.”

“I am working with great guys,” Williams says, as he credits his fast start to the experienced staff at 100.3 The Beat. “All I have to do is talk, read and do some ad-libbing, and they fill in the blanks.”

“The Lou Williams Show” is set to air every Sunday from 12:00 - 4:00 PM on 100.3 The Beat.
