ANDRE MILLER NAMED EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Philadelphia, PA - February 11, 2008 The NBA announced today that Philadelphia 76ers’ guard Andre Miller was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, Feb. 10. It is the third time in his nine-year career that Miller has earned a Player of the Week award and the first since the 2001-02 season. The last Sixer to be named Eastern Conference Player of the Week was Allen Iverson for his play during the opening week of the 2006-07 season.

The Sixers recorded a 3-1 mark last week, with Miller averaging 19.5 points, 9.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 37.5 minutes per game. He also shot 55.8% from the floor and committed just 10 turnovers in 150 minutes of play. Miller outscored the opposing teams’ starting point guards 78-35. He scored a season-high tying 29 points at Atlanta on Feb. 4 and recorded a Sixers’ season-high 14 assists vs. Washington on Feb. 5.

This season, Miller is averaging a career-high 16.6 points per game while shooting a career-best 49.1% from the floor. He is also averaging a team-high 6.5 assists per game and ranks 14th in the NBA in that category. Miller has scored 20-plus points 17 times this season after doing so just five times in all of 2006-07. Entering tonight, Miller has appeared in 417 consecutive games, the second longest streak among active players, trailing only San Antonio’s Bruce Bowen and his 485-game streak.
