From 1919 to 1920 she attended the School of Fine Arts in Prague. In the early 1920s she journeyed to Paris, and there became associated with André_Breton. Upon returning to her native Prague, she helped found the Czech_Surrealist_Group. Forced underground during the Nazi occupation and Second_World_War, she fled to Paris before the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia (1948).
