'''Chaim Gross''' (March_17, 1904 - 1991) was an Austrian born American Sculptor. He was born in the Austrian village of Kolomea (since 1991, in the Ukraine) and immigrated to the United_States in 1921. His art studies began at the Kunstgewerbe_Schule in Vienna shortly before he moved to the United States, where it continued at the Beaux-Arts_Institute_of_Design where he studied with Elie_Nadelman and at the Art_Students_League, with Robert_Laurent. Primarily Gross was a practitioner of the direct carving method, with the majority of his work being carved from wood. Works by Chaim Gross can be found in major museums and private collections throughout the United States.
