The last thing we do is show you what your resume is going to look like and give you an opportunity to make changes.

ICSC members can add their resumes free of charge. Nonmembers may not add their resumes.

I don't want to let others know I am looking for a position. What can I do?

MEMBER WEB SITES

How can I make my site rank higher in search results?
Use relevant terms near the top of your document, in the title bar, and in a keywords META tag. Link to ICSC. Pages that link to ICSC's site are ranked higher than those that do not.

What are META tags?
META tags can be used to contain information, such as authors, descriptions, keywords, and instructions to search engines. A good primer on META tags has been put together by Webdeveloper.com

How can I exclude a part of my site from being indexed?
Our indexing program first checks for a file called robots.txt, which can include instructions on what to index. The file should conform to the Standard for Robot Exclusion. Our program also supports noindex and nofollowtag META tags.

Part of my site does not appear in the search, why?
There are a number of possible reasons, they include:

  • The entire base URL of you site must be in the Industry Links database. If your Website is listed in the Industry Links database as http://www.mycompanyname.com/mypage.html then http://www.mycompanyname.com/anotherpage.html will not be indexed because the base URL http://www.mycompanyname.com/mypage.html is not contained in http://www.mycompanyname.com/anotherpage.html.
  • If your site is listed as http://www.mycompanyname.com/ then http://www.mycompanyname.com/page1.html and http://www.mycompanyname.com/page2.html will be indexed but http://www2.mycompanyname.com/mypage.html will not be indexed.
  • You may have a robot exclusion file on your Web server.
  • We do not index certain types of files, such as .exe files.
