Goofs for
Hooligans (2005)

advertisement
  • Miscellaneous: When Steve is trying to con Pete into taking Mat to the match, the money he is holding goes from folded in half to thirds and back to half again.

  • Continuity: The crew are heading to an away match at Manchester United. They meet to catch a train at Kings Cross but, during the next scenes, they are actually boarding the train at Paddington.

  • Factual errors: Actual trains departing London to Manchester leave from Euston Station, not Kings Cross or Paddington.

  • Factual errors: The crew are seen boarding a First Great Western Train. These do not go to Manchester.

  • Factual errors: The fight scene with Manchester United fans clearly was filmed outside London Fenchurch Street station, not in Manchester.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the Manchester United firm are waiting for the Green Street Elite at the train station, they are chanting "Who the f*ck are Man United?". This is a famous chant sung by rivals of Manchester United rather than fans of the team themselves.

  • Continuity: When Matt has the Chelsea grin, he is obviously bleeding a lot in the corners of the mouth. But in the next scene with the van and then with the fight, the blood is gone and it doesn't show and sign of wounds and him wiping the blood away.

  • Factual errors: At Matt's first match, the away fans team are named as being Birmingham City (who play in all blue shirts and white shorts), and their supporters are referred to as "northerners". However, the team shown playing West Ham United is actually Gillingham (blue and black stripes with black shorts), who ironically are one of the few teams in England south of West Ham. The match shown was played on Saturday 27th March 2004, and finished 2-1 in favour of the Hammers.

  • Continuity: During the first bar scene when Bovver is shown standing on a table singing their West Ham song, he is clearly shown drenched in beer as they throw it everywhere. The next scene is shown in the bathroom with Bovver and Matt and his sweater is completely dry and shows no signs of the beer throwing.

  • Continuity: Pete says the last time West Ham and Millwall played each other was 10 years previous. Steve tells Matt that he met his sister Shannon soon after the last fight with the Millwall Firm, which resulted in the death of Tommy's son and Steve leaving the GSE. But earlier in the movie, Shannon tells Matt that she has not seen him for 3 years. Matt says that she ran off for England after their mother's death. This leaves a 7 year difference between the time Shannon and Steve would have met.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the last big fight, Matt hits a guy with a big black stick, its obvious that it's made from rubber.

  • Factual errors: During the scene where the motorcyclist is going through the tunnel to visit 'the enemy' in Millwall, the sign says "Welcome to Millwall, London Borough of Tower Hamlets". Firstly, no sign would say Millwall but Bermondsey and secondly, Bermondsey, therefore, Millwall, is in the London Borough of Southwark.

  • Continuity: During the entrance to the WHU home game the loud speaker is announcing the next three games the Hammers will face. None of these are against Manchester United. However, the next mention of a game is away against Man U.
