  • Continuity: A black dirt mark on Alex's right thigh is made by Dim's boot brushing against it as he's falling into the water. But it disappears as Alex is seen crouching down to cut Dim's hand.

  • Continuity: The prison warden's hands during the interview before Alex's treatment.

  • Continuity: During the rape scene in the opera house the victim has only one sandal laced up, it is on her right leg. In the next cut it is laced up on her left leg.

  • Continuity: The prison chaplain puts his arm around Alex twice.

  • Continuity: The length of their shadows when Alex and his gang approaches the derelict in the tunnel.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In the music store, the camera is briefly reflected in the mirrors to the right.

  • Continuity: Georgie's trademark top hat appears and disappears after being pushed into the water at the Flatblock Marina.

  • Continuity: At the casino where Alex and his droogs run into Billyboy's gang, Billyboy's hat appears and disappears.

  • Continuity: When Georgie and Dim are pushed into the water, the distance between them varies inconsistently between shots.

  • Continuity: Number and position of electrodes on Alex's head varies between shots.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Alex and the Cat Lady are fighting at the house, the shadow of the camera can be seen on each of them.

  • Continuity: Alex's last name is mentioned as being both DeLarge and Burgess (see trivia). When he goes into jail, he tells the warden his name is DeLarge, but in the newspaper articles about him, his name is Burgess.

  • Continuity: Alex removes a tape from his stereo twice before inserting the Beethoven tape.

  • Continuity: In the next to last scene when Alex is getting his pictures taken, he has a handkerchief over his neck brace after they brought out the stereo, then the next shot reveals the neck brace.

  • Continuity: Alex's number in prison is stated as "6-double 5-3-2-1". The prison chaplain first refers to him as "6-7-5-3-2-1" and then as "6-double 5-3-2-1" in the same scene in the prison library.

  • Continuity: When Alex is presented on stage to show that he has been "cured" the minister first sits down to the right of the man who questions the reliability of the treatment after giving his speech, but later in the scene, the minister appears on the left.

  • Continuity: When the neurotic prison officer is shouting at one of the pupils in the prison sermon (just before they all start singing) the prison chaplain's arms are resting on his lectern. In the very next shot his right arm has been raised and his hand is open, as he commands the group to be quiet.

  • Continuity: When Alex eats spaghetti as the writer wails about his late wife, the height of the spaghetti changes with each shot/reverse shot between Alex and the writer

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The first time Alex is frank's 'Home', he leans over Frank while singing "Singing In The Rain" but Alex's mouth is not moving.

  • Factual errors: The wine Alex drinks appears far too light in color to be a 10 year old Médoc. Kubrick did use the actual wine described by Alex (specifically a 1960 Chateau Beau Site Haut Vignoble). But after each take water was added, ostensibly to keep the wine level consistent without intoxicating Malcolm McDowell. By the time Kubrick got what he wanted the wine was visibly watered down.

  • Continuity: In the scene where Alex is drinking wine, Frank Alexander pours the wine almost to the top. However, in the next shot, the glass has less wine in it.

  • Continuity: When Alex starts feeling sick after coming back home from his "reformation", he falls back against the bar, tipping over a bottle. When the angle changes, that bottle has disappears completely.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When Alex jumps out of the window, the camera view gives the impression that we are seeing Alex's view of the onrushing ground. However, he does a flip, winding up with his back pointing to the ground so the camera angle is inconsistent.
