Goofs for
Cop Land (1997)

  • Errors in geography: At the end of the film, Heflin is standing under the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, NJ, not at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ, which is five miles inland from the bridge.

  • Errors in geography: In the first scene on the George Washington Bridge, he is driving from New York to New Jersey, but it was filmed going the opposite direction. Going into the city, you enter the yellow tunnel first.

  • Continuity: While Figgs talks to Heflin on the porch, he deliberately places his beer can on its side on the railing. During the conversation when the camera angle changes to outside the porch, the can is vertical.

  • Continuity: When Heflin enters his office with Tilden waiting there, Heflin's deputy is buttoning his shirt twice.

  • Continuity: When Joey Randone has fallen off the roof, his left leg is bent in an awkward angle. On the cover of next day's newspaper, the chalk line silhouette has the right leg bent.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the scene where young Freddy Heflin breaks the side window of Liz Randone's car, the window clearly breaks before contact with Freddy's head.

  • Continuity: As Heflin and Bretts enter the cemetery for the officer's funeral, you can clearly see that she is laughing.

  • Factual errors: Freddy is seen listening to Bruce Springsteen on his record player, but the gray-and-black label of the LP on the turntable is that of a Columbia "Masterworks" album of the late 1950s, an exclusively classical music label.

  • Continuity: At the cemetery, when asked about his bad ear, Sheriff Heflin points to his left ear (with his right hand) when, in fact, it's his right ear (the one he bangs against the submerged car's window) that has been damaged. Later in the movie one of the bad guys fires his pistol next to the sheriff's left ear saying something like, "this is your good ear, right?"

  • Continuity: In the final shootout, Freddy is shot in the shoulder, falling against the car and losing his gun. After Figgsy comes to his rescue, he is seen getting up and entering the house with the gun back in his hand, though we never see any attempt to retrieve it.
