Duke it out with your favorite Nintendo characters in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii.
Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Series makes a special appearance in this title for the Wii game system. The new Smash Bros. will include a number of new playable characters such as Meta Knight from the Kirby games, Pit from Kid Icarus, Zero Suit Samus (i.e. Samus without her armour) from Metroid: Zero Mission, Wario and, most unexpectedly, Solid Snake from Metal Gear and Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega's loveable blue blur! The Nintendogs also make an appearance, although only as an item for obscuring the screen, and each character now seems to have some gigantic new special attacks that take up the whole screen. Not only will the game have an online mode but it is the only major Nintendo title to use the “shell” controller by default rather than the Wii remote.

Game storyline: In multiplayer games, characters from all Nintendo universes meet up in Nintendo locales to duke it out. In the solo mode called "The Subspace Emissary," the world of Smash Bros. is invaded by an entity called the Ancient Minister and his army of creatures, called "The Primid." Normally, characters come alive in the world of Smash Bros. to do battle, then turn back into trophies when defeated. However, the Ancient Minister starts turning characters into trophies to harness their power, then detonates bombs that suck pieces of the world back into his realm of Subspace. Eventually, all the characters must work together to defeat the invading creatures from Subspace - this is accomplished by playing through side-scrolling levels.
How to progress through the game: For multiplayer games, players pick characters, set rules and locations for where they want to play and then duke it out. In Solo Mode, characters play through a long, side-scrolling adventure, beating up enemies along the way as they watch short cinematics starring their favorite characters.
Characters: Mario, Samus, Bowser, Donkey Kong®, Solid Snake, Meta Knight, Kirby™, Pikachu®, Zero Suit Samus, Link, Zelda™, Pit and Wario™, to name just a few. Anyone and anything from a Nintendo universe could appear in this game in one form or another.
Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Anything from a Nintendo game could conceivably be in this game, whether it's a musical score, an obscure item or a character that shows up to help the fighters. Super Smash Bros.Brawl is eminently customizable, so players can choose the frequency of items appearing, adjust musical scores and basically play the game however they'd like. Items range from baseball bats to proximity mines to Poké Balls to Assist Trophies, which spawn characters like Hammer Bros. and Sim City's Dr. Wright to attack others.
- Play with 4 types of controllers!: Wii Remote, Wii Remote & Nunchuk, Classic Controller and the GameCube controller.
- Your Favorite Veteran Fighters Are Back! Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, Samus, Zelda, Bowser and Donkey Kong are ready for more action! New characters also join in the bash this time around!
- Brawl in your favorite Nintendo Locations!: Battlefield, Delfino Plaza, Yoshi's Island, Lylat Cruise, Bridge of Eldin and Smashville are some of the places to get your Brawl on!

When I first played Brawl, I was fully ready for an experience that would be somewhat new but ultimately the same sort of game I've played 1,000 times before. Instead, I was greeted with an experience that was incredibly unique - even for a fighting game.
While fighting against the computer is fun, the real joy came from beating your friends to bits with any of the dozens of characters available from the earliest days of Nintendo to more recent fare. You may not recognize all of the characters, but at least one of your favorites are sure to be there. Each character fights in their own unique way, meaning you can spend quite a while on each character trying to fully understand how best to use them offensively and defensively to crush your opponents.
The other (and I think coolest) thing about the game is the environments. Each arena is based on something from Nintendo's past, and the style varies from scene to scene. It's very fun. If you haven't played a fighting ...[More]

The Wait Was Worth It... |

Plain and simple review: SSBB is the Best Wii Game By Far! If you have been wondering if you should get this game or not, then wonder no more!!! It's a must buy! Even if you don't have Wi-Fi, the offline multi-player and single-player modes will keep you going for months, even years to come! The only real issue I had was the fact that there is no Voice Chat online. But that still doesn't take away...[More] |
Bigger and better than ever |

After years of anticipation, the popular super smach bros. franchise makes it's triumphant return. This game is like melee but bigger and better. The graphics are good, but I've seen better. The controls are amazing. I'm really suprised at how well it plays. The newest feature to the game, the final smash works really well. Every character has their own and they cause heavy damage. Time them right...[More] |
Most anticipated game on the Wii. |

Sound: 10, I don't think a better soundtrack could be put in a Nintendo game. From Zelda remixes, to Kid Icarus Original melodies. You can pick which music appears in whcih stages, and the music fits in perfectly depending on what stage your playing on. On a Mario stage a remix of the classic Mario theme, and on a Sonic stage, His classic songs on the Gensis, to his current songs, on the 360/PS3/W...[More] |
