Parshuram
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parshuram was the brahmin who destroyed many Kshatriyas. He is still considered the same because he just obeyed the orders from his mother. His mother's name was Renuka.
Parshuram is considered to be the first generation of Bhumihars.
Parshuram has featured in many mythological stories, especially The Mahabharat. In this epic he was the teacher of Bhishma. When Bhishma refused to marry Amba whom Bhisma had won for his half brother Vichitravirya, Amba went to Parshuram to punish his pupil Bhishma, but in combat it was Bhishma who defeated Parshuram.
Parshuram also mentored Karna who had lied to him that he was a brahmin. When parshuram found out the truth he cursed Karna for doing so.
Parshuram during the final stages of life donated all his worldly belongings. When Dronacharya, the teacher of Pandus and Kurus reached he had already given everything away. So Parshuram offered him his life or his knowledge of weapons or warfare, of which Drona selected the latter.
