Nate Ackerman

Nate Ackerman (born March 4, 1978 as Nathanael Leedom Ackerman) is an British-American logician and wrestler.

Ackerman was born on March 4, 1978 in New York City, New York United States to Joanne Leedom-Ackerman and Peter Ackerman. He was educated at the American School in London followed by Harvard University where he graduated in June 2000. He then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until June 2006 when he received his Ph.D. in mathematics. His Ph.D. was under professor Gerald E. Sacks and was titled On Quantifier Rank Spectra of Sentences of L_{\infty, \omega}. He is currently a lecturer of mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania.

While attending Harvard and MIT he wrestled under coach Granit Taropin. During this time he competed in the 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005 World Championships along with the 2004 Summer Olympic Games as part of the Great Britain National Team (Team GB). His best result was in the 1999 World Championships where he placed 16th.
