Ryder Hesjedal (born December 9, 1980 in Victoria, British Columbia) in is a Canadian professional racing cyclist who currently rides for the Slipstream-Chipotle cycling team. He is a former mountain biker (having won a silver medal at the 2001 U23 World Mountain Bike Championships) and in 2005 turned professional with the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team after spending several years with the Rabobank amateur team.

A strong climber and time trialist he was selected to the 2005 Giro d'Italia squad with Discovery Channel and helped Paolo Savoldelli win the race, although failing to complete the course himself. After the 2005 season he left Discovery Channel and joined the Swiss team Phonak. With Phonak he proceeded to have his best results yet, having finished fourth in the 2006 Volta a Catalunya and finished second in the 2006 Canadian Time Trial Championship. Later that season he was selected to the 2006 Vuelta a España squad where he was performing very well, however left halfway through the race to concentrate on the UCI Road World Championships in Salzburg. However his efforts did not pay off as he achieved only modest results. Due to the financial collapse of the Phonak cycling team, he signed on with the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis for the 2007 cycling season. For the 2008 season he signed with the Slipstream-Chipotle Team.
