KANSAS SUNFLOWER JAR

Supplies:
  • Quart canning jar
  • Jar ring and canning lid
  • 1/4 yard of bright yellow fabric
  • Dark brown acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Craft glue
  • Green or natural raffia
Sunflower jar
Directions:
  1. Cut fabric in 1/2 inch wide strips. Use pinking shears to prevent raveling. (Optional)
  2. Fold the nine inch long strips in half and loop around the jar ring tucking the ends through the loop. This knots the loop around the ring. Keep the knots on the outside of the ring. Cover the entire ring.
  3. Paint the canning lid with the brown paint for the center of the flower.
  4. Use the raffia to make a bow and glue onto the side of the jar.
  5. Fill the jar with candies, or cocoa mix, buttons or whatever.
BASIC HOT CHOCOLATE MIX
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups dry milk
  • 2 cups nondairy creamer
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa
Cup of hot chocolate
Directions:
Mix all together in a large bowl. Store in your sunflower jar. Mix 1/3 cup hot chocolate mix to 6 oz. of hot water.
