Parol from the Philippines

Made by Mrs. Clark

Materials needed:
  • Different colors of construction paper
  • Glue stick
  • Markers, crayons, or glitter
  • Pieces of ribbon or yarn
  • Pieces of crepe paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Make your very own parol similar to what the Filipinos make, but only you can make it without the lantern in the middle.

1. Make a five-pointed star using your pencil and any colored piece of construction paper.

2. Cut out the star using your scissors.  You can make the star any size you want.

3. Decorate your star using marker, crayons, glitter or pieces of construction paper.

4. Put the ribbon or yarn on each of the star's points.  You can even use crepe paper to make bows, streamers, or tassels.

5. Glue the ribbon, yarn or crepe paper to each of the start's points.

6. Hang your parol in a window or on your Christmas Tree.
