Bramson ORT College is a technical undergraduate college in New York City under the joint auspices of ORT America (formerly American ORT and Women's American ORT) and US ORT OPERATIONS . All three entities are affiliated with World ORT, an international Jewish organization which strives to provide economic self-sufficiency through vocational and technical education.

Bramson ORT College opened in 1977 to provide quality technical post-secondary education and to meet the educational and career needs of the New York community. The main campus is located in Forest Hills, Queens, and has an extension center in Brooklyn.

The school currently offers programs in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Technology, Electronics Technology, Office Technology and courses in English as a Second Language (ESL). The ESL course provides instruction in the English language for the student whose first language is not English. These courses are designed to meet the needs of students with limited English language proficiency.

Bramson ORT College is accredited by the Board of Regents of The University of the State of New York. All Associate Degree, Certificate, and Diploma programs are registered by the New York State Education Department. Bramson ORT College is governed by a Board of Trustees and is a not-for-profit educational institution.

The faculty and staff of Bramson ORT provide for the the ongoing educational and occupational needs of the students by preparing them for meaningful employment, community service, and personal growth. Bramson ORT maintains a relationship between coursework and the workplace through the College's Business and Industry Advisory Council. Seminars, discussions, and audio-visual presentations emphasize Bramson's ties with the local business community and students have the opportunity to gain work experience through internships and the use of the College's modern multimedia and technical labs.

The Bramson ORT Library Media Resource Center contains a variety of materials, with special emphasis given to supporting the curricula. A professional library staff offers assistance and guidance to students, and maintains an up-to-date collection.

World ORT

World ORT is a major international not-for-profit promoter of education and training, with almost some 300,000 beneficiaries annually. Since its foundation in 1880, World ORT has helped more than 3 million people through its global network of schools, colleges, training centres and programmes. It is one of the largest non-government educational and training organizations in the world, operating in over 60 countries.

In the United States, ORT is represented by members of ORT America and ORT Operations USA. ORT Operations USA oversees Bramson ORT College in New York, Los Angeles ORT Technical Institute, Zarem/Golde ORT Technical Institute in Chicago, Hermelin ORT Resource Center in Detroit, and other educational programs in Miami, Atlanta, and Cleveland.

Bramson ORT College is dedicated to providing each student with a college level education. Upon successful completion of a program, the student can seek a challenging employment opportunity in an established and/or emerging field of business technology or health service. Many of the Liberal Arts courses at the College are designed to foster a mutual understanding and relationship between culture and American society.

Bramson ORT College goals are to:

  • Present students with an opportunity to achieve a quality education in a technical, business, or health service program of their choice.
  • Prepare students for employment opportunities and equip them with the skills and knowledge required for career advancement.
  • Provide students with the human relations skills and work habits necessary to function successfully in both their professional and personal lives.
  • Integrate Liberal Arts courses that foster a lifelong interest in professional and humanistic learning into the program of study.
  • Offer courses within the program of study that highlight history, politics, society, literature, philosophy, culture and tradition.
  • Offer technical, business and health service programs that enable historically under-served populations, such as the educationally and the economically disadvantaged, to reach their

educational and career objectives.

The College admits students with a high school diploma or an equivalency diploma who seek challenging careers in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Electronics Technology, Office Technology, Medical Assistant, and Administrative Assistant.

In order to be eligible for admission to Bramson ORT College a student must

  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent, or demonstrate the ability to benefit from a college education as defined under federal regulations.
  • Be a recognized candidate who can obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma based on Earned College Credit (Ability to Benefit). Achieve a passing score in the CPAt or CELSA test, approved by the Dept. of Education
  • Take placement exams in English and Mathematics.
