The Trail Blazers played well without two of their starters. The Rockets played better without two of their own.
The Trail Blazers (38-38) lost 95-86 to the Rockets (50-25) without starters Brandon Roy and Martell Webster. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Trail Blazers with 23 points. The Trail Blazers had five players in double-figures. Jarrett Jack had 19 points. Travis Oulaw scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots. Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy has been named the Northwest Division winner and an NBA finalist for the 2007-08 Sportsmanship Award, given annually to the player who best represents the ideals of on-court sportsmanship, the NBA announced today.
Roy joins Detroit's Antonio McDyess, Houston's Shane Battier, Phoenix's Grant Hill, Toronto's Chris Bosh and Washington's Antawn Jamison among the divisional winners, selected by a five-member panel of former players. The winner will be selected by a vote of NBA players, and will be announced after the regular season.
