This doily was just a practice piece I had done a while back, found it in a drawer with some other odds and ends and decided to add it to site. It was made with #5 needle and #10 natural crochet thread. It is 10x6, if you want it can be worked around for a larger size if desired. And extra picots can be added to give a fuller effect.
Working the center first row:
R 4ds p 4ds p 4ds p 4ds Cl Rw
Ch 5ds p 5ds Rw
R 4ds + 4ds p 4ds p 4ds
Work around for a count of 8 rings and 7 ch's on the 8th chain to form top do: 5ds p 5ds + (to side picot of last ring) from that same picot do 5ds p 5ds
Put needle through each picot on side and work around to top side and again do 5ds p 5ds + (to top picot) 5ds p 5ds and attach where first ch started.
Working around the center piece 2nd row:
R 8ds + ( to first chain made on center piece) 8ds Cl Rw (remember you can add picots here if desired, it would be 4ds p 4ds + 4ds p 4ds) Cl Rw
Ch 8ds p 8ds Rw
R 8ds + ( to next ch) 8ds Cl Rw
Work down for 7 rings and 7 ch's to the corner rings:
R 8ds + ( to the corner ch.) 8ds Cl
Ch 8ds p 8ds
R 8ds + ( to same corner ch) 8ds Cl Rw
Ch 8ds P 8ds Rw
R 8ds + (to the other corner ch.) 8ds
Ch 8ds p 8ds
R 8ds + (to same picot of corner ch.) 8ds
Work around other side for 7 more rings and 8 ch. and work other corner same way, tie and cut.
3rd do the same way round, except on chains add two extra ds on each chain. ch.10ds p 10ds -
4th round ch.12ds p 12 ds
( as you work around the # of rings will increase by one. 2nd rd, 7 rings plus 2 corner rings each. Next round 8 rings, etc.
If working around to make doily larger remember to add extra ds to chains, so it will not pucker to much.
Once done lay out pin and shape.
