Petit Four - Made with size #10 Thread. Measures approx. 7" / 17.7 Cm across the Pineapple points, and from corner to corner, 8" / 20.3 Cm. Each round is done individually. There are 9 rounds and the center medallion to make.
I have a new pattern added now for using split rings/chains, if anyone wants to attempt it with 2 split chains and 10 split rings. Click Here
If you need a larger view of the doily click the photo and it will take you to the album.
R=Ring Ch=Chain P=Picot LP=Long Picot ¾" Cl=Close Rw=Reverse Work SmCh=Small Chain +=Join DNR=Do Not Reverse VSP=Very Small Picot
The Lock Join will be used a lot, if you need to learn the join: Click Here
Center:
R 4ds p 4ds p 4ds p 4ds Cl Rw
SmCh 1ds p 1ds Rw
R 4ds + (to side p of prev. ring) 4ds p 4ds p 4ds Cl Rw
SmCh 1ds p 1ds Rw
Work around for 8 rings in all, join last ring to first. Make SmCh join to first, tie cut hide ends.
Round 1: The chains on this first round will be shaped rounded but once you start working out, they will straighten out.
*R 8ds + ( to any p of Center) 8ds Cl Rw
Ch 4ds p 4ds p 4ds p 4ds Rw
R 8ds + (to next free p on Center) 8ds Cl Rw
Ch 4ds Lp's ¾" (make 8 separated by 1ds each) 4ds Rw
Repeat from * for 8 rings in all. Every other chain with the Long Picots on them. Join last chain to base of first ring, tie cut hide ends.
Round 2: With the Long Picots, I twisted them twice to be joined on. Once is ok, if you find it difficult doing them twice.
(Start on the right of the chain with the 3 picots.
**R 4ds + (join on the first p of the chain) 4ds Cl Rw
Ch VSP 2ds p 2ds Rw (this first chain will need a very small picot at the beginning as the next round is joined there.)
R 4ds + (center p on chain) 4ds Cl Rw
Ch 2ds p 2ds Rw
R 4ds + (last p on chain) 4ds Cl Rw
SmCh 2ds and join to the first LP. DNR This will take you over the the LP's
SmCh 1ds p 1ds (make the p's as small as possible, without losing them)
Work over joining each small chain in the long picots. Once you've made the last join on 8:
SmCh VSP 2ds Rw and repeat from **
Joining the last smch of 2ds to the base of the first ring made, tie off and hide ends.
Round 3: The first rings with join in the base of the first ring on the right in the VSP.
*3R 4ds + (in the base of the first ring made round 2) 4ds Cl Rw
Ch VSP 2ds p 2ds Rw
R 4ds + (join in picot of Chain on round 2) 4ds Cl Rw

R 4ds + (in base of 3rd ring on 2nd Round) 4ds Cl Rw
Ch 4ds DNR Join over to the p on the SmCh
Ch over 2ds p 2ds on each Sm Ch. On last join<
Ch 4ds Rw
Repeat from *3
Join last chain of 4ds to base of first ring made, tie off hide ends.

Ch 6ds DNR (join in first p of last round)
Ch over each for 3ds p 3ds join last one and do another:
Ch 6ds and repeat from *4
Join last chain of 6 to base of first ring made.
Round 5:
*5R 4ds + (base of ring) 4ds Cl Rw
Ch 3ds p 3ds Rw
Do these same as in other rounds, for 6 rings in all. Last ring in base of 4th round.
Ch 6ds DNR
Do the chains over again for 3ds p 3ds and repeat from *5
Join last chain of 6ds and tie to base of first ring made, cut hide ends.
Round 6:
This round is done in the same manner.
*6R 4ds + 4ds Cl Rw
Ch 4ds p 4ds
Work over for 7 rings in all
Ch 6ds DNR
Work these chains over joining for 3ds p 3ds
Repeat from *6
On last chain of 6ds tie to base again of first ring, cut hide ends.
Round 7:
*7R 4ds + 4ds CL Rw
Ch 4ds p 4ds
Repeat for 8 rings in all, 8th ring in base.
Ch 6ds DNR

*8R 4ds + 4ds Cl Rw
Ch over all the picot for 8 in all, 4ds p 4ds ( do not over shape them, let them be a bit flat.
On the last picot Rw and make the other Ring in the base of the last ring on the prev. row.
