Rose was made from thread that was left on ball's that wasn't enough to use for full project. If you use up old thread then follow steps given but do each round of chains for rose separately. I also done a leaf in green on my second round, if you want you can make them white to match doily. You will not have to worry about hiding ends, since the flower will be hiding the work. But do tie them securely. Any flower or small motif would look great, so if you do not make the rose, try something else.
Rose:
R in red - make 3ds 8 picots sep. by 3ds Start your ring with 2ds and 1ds at 8th p on end so when it closes it is 3ds and even all around.
Ch (green) 11ds p 1ds 10 back half of ds 10 front half ds 1ds p 11ds
Skip one picot and repeat ch. for 4 ch's all. tie and cut
Ch (red) in empty picot on ring make ch's - 12ds 5 back half ds 5 front half ds 12ds work around for 4 chains skipping one picot each time. At this point put needle through the picot as if to tie off, but make 4ds and put the needle in the next picot over, which will be the picot with the green on it. Now you are ready to work the next set of chains.
Ch 10ds 5 b half 5 f half 10ds at end do the 4 again so your ready to work the next set of chains.
Ch 8ds 5 b half 5 f half 8ds continue around with next set of 6 then set of 4.
At the end of your ch's of 4 make a chain of 10ds and tie it on opposite side of the center ring, so you have a little center effect.
Making a clover: *
R 12 ds p 8ds p 4ds Cl do not turn
R 4ds + (join to last picot of prev, ring) 8ds + ( join to picot on right of chain on motif) 8ds p 4ds Cl do not turn
R 4ds +8ds p 12ds CL rev. work
LCh 6ds p 6ds p 4ds p 6ds p 4ds p 6ds p 6ds RW
*Make cluster as before, joining to each clover to other clover and to next picot on chain of rose, work around for 8 clusters and ch.'s attaching at first ch.. made.
Next Rnd
R 8ds +(join to second p of first long ch on 3rd rnd.) 4ds + (join to next picot on same long ch. 8ds Cl Rw
Ch 4ds p 4ds p 4ds p 4ds Rw
R Ring as before joining to next two picots of same long ch.
Ch as before. Continue around for 24 rings and chains attaching last ch to first ring made.
Last Round:
Ch Put needle through center picot of any ch. on last round.
4ds p 2ds p 2ds LP 2ds p 2ds p 4ds put needle through next center picot of next chain and repeat around for 24 chains, tie off at first chain made hide ends.
