Node or twisted stitch makes a nice heavy chain. If your making a ring it is best not to make to many stitches, keep it around 4 or so.
Begin by doing so many half stitches of the ds, then same amount of the other half of the ds. Repeat back and forth to form this ruffle effect. This can also have picots added. This is a good strong chain or ring effect when working with making jewelery. The node Stitch is normally written like this, 10(3a, 3b) This indicates you to do 3 half stitches and 3 of the other half, 10 times.
Practice example:
Do (9a 9b to get a good idea of how they look, as you make them they will form a V shape on either side as you pull them snuggly together.
This example I did is 9a 9b so you can see the effect.
