Mark Baker established the group in 1997. Garry Smith and Hong Ong joined the group in October 2000 and June 2001, respectively - both were awarded their their PhDs in 2004. Richard joined the group in October 2002. Mat started working with the group in July 2003, and became a Ph.D. student in October 2003. Aamir Shafi joined the group in mid-October 2003. Helen Xiang, a Ph.D. student in CSSE, became an associate of the group in October 2003. More recently Rahim Lakhoo (March 2005), and Kashif Iqbal (October 2005) joined the group as research students.
