Selling Photos Using Fotopic


What's the Fotopic Printshop Programme?

When you post your photos to Fotopic, you can enable other people to buy prints and other products such as mugs, t-shirts, etc. If you a Fotopic Premium user, you can charge what you want for those prints and earn money - some of our users earn literally hundreds of pounds a month using the service.

How does it work?

It works like this:

  1. A customer places an order for a product.
  2. The customer pays via our secure payment gateway, using their credit or debit card at point.
  3. We print and supply the product to the customer.
  4. When you have enough money, simply push the "Pay Me" button.
  5. We pay you your share by cheque, or direct into your bank.

Who decides the price?

There's a base price for each product, which you put a markup on. We then pay you 90% of that markup (10% goes to us, to cover the costs associated with running the Printshop programme).

You need to cover your own costs of course so you should give us a realistic price, based on our pricing model.

How do I link in with the Fotopic system?

When you've signed the agreement, you'll get another section in the My.Fotopic administration system, which will handle the settings and reports on your Printshop account.

Before you sell your prints, make sure you've published the highest resolution images possible. 99% of our complaints about image quality are because the gallery owner hasn't pulished a good enough image.

Please ensure:

  • Your photos are at least 200dpi (you can get the minimum recommended sizes/ratios from the Fotopic Print Shop.
  • There must be no watermarks or digimarks. Premium users can add these automatically, so you shouldn't need to add your own.
  • You carry out your own colour correction - we cannot accept responsibility for images which are imbalanced as a result of ICC profile mismatches, etc.
  • If uploading logos and graphics, remember that white = 'transparent'. This is especially applicable to items with a non-white finish like our travel mug.
As long as you stick to this, you'll be fine!

When do I get paid?

You get paid when you push the "Pay Me" button in the My.Fotopic system.

You can see at a glance:

  • How much money is currently "uncleared" - we cannot pay funds out until 6 weeks have elapsed in order to protect ourselves from fraud.
  • How much money is available for payout (this is the amount you can claim).
  • How much money is waiting to be paid in the next payment run.
We carry out payment runs every fortnight.

We can either write you a cheque or carry out a transfer to any UK clearing bank. There is a minimum value of £15.00 per invoice, and you cannot payout more than once every four weeks.

What happens with returns and problems?

Returns due to manufacturing problems with the product, or non-delivery, are replaced free-of-charge. If we handle a credit-card chargeback, we will deduct the relevant portion of your commission for that transaction.

How do I sign up?

Simply become a Fotopic Premium user (sign up here), and click on the "Printshop Settings" icon. You can activate Printshop here, and set your prices as well as your payment settings - you can start earning money immediately.

I don't want a gallery - can you just produce products?
