Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) is perhaps the most universally appealing of the great Russian composers. Though his heart-on-the-sleeve emotionalism can tend toward excessive sentimentality, Tchaikovsky was a brilliant orchestrator, with a brimming gift for melody.
