The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966 "to promote the progressive harmonization and unification of the law of international trade."[1] The UNCITRAL Secretariat has its seat in Vienna (Austria).

UNCITRAL drafted the 1976 UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, the 1980 United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the 1985 UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration.
