Brian Baumgartner (born November 29, 1972) is an Emmy Award-winning American film and television actor who plays Kevin Malone on the U.S. version of The Office.

Baumgartner was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta. He attended high school at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta with future Office co-star Ed Helms, who graduated one year later in 1992. Before moving to Los Angeles, Baumgartner served as Artistic Director of Hidden Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he received multiple awards for artistic and acting excellence. In addition, Baumgartner performed regionally at the Guthrie Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Children's Theater Company, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. Baumgartner studied acting at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.

Baumgartner lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.

Baumgartner's television appearances include roles on Jake in Progress, Arrested Development, and Everwood. His most recent project is the romantic comedy License to Wed, opposite Robin Williams, Mandy Moore, and Office co-star John Krasinski. In June 2007, Baumgartner won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Broadband Program - Comedy, for his work on The Office: Accountants webisodes. His co-stars Angela Kinsey and Oscar Nunez also shared the award.[1]

  • While filming The Office episode "Basketball", Baumgartner sank 14 baskets in a row. When the crew saw this, they began shooting it for inclusion in the episode.[citation needed]
  • Brian has an uncredited cameo in the "Cold Cuts" episode of The Sopranos.[citation needed]
