Valentinian I leaves Trier to repress the rebellious Quadi in Slovakia. He dies on the Danube at Brigetio of apoplexy, while berating the Quadi emissary.
Gratian and Valentinian II become Roman Emperors.
In Africa, the dissident Berber prince Firmus is delivered to the Romans by his brother Gildon.
