Teispes (Old Persian: ðŽ¨ðŽ¡ððŽ±ðŽ¡ð[1] CiÅ¡piÅ¡[2]; Greek ΤεÎσπης; died 640 BC[citation needed]) was the son of Achaemenes and a King of Persia. He captured the Elamite city of AnÅ¡an and called himself "King of the City of AnÅ¡an", a first step that would lead to the rise of the Persian Empire. He was succeeded by his grandson, Cyrus I of Anshan.
