Wikipedia:Mobile access
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As of June 2007, Wikipedia provides official access for wireless devices such as mobile telephones and PDAs. Two sites exists: en.m.wikipedia.org and en.mobile.wikipedia.org. Unfortunately, the mobile.wikipedia.org site is exceptionally buggy when viewed on various mobile devices, including smart phones Apple iPhone and Google Android derived phones. Mobile users will frequently find that the mobile version of Wikipedia does not work at all or redirects them to error pages. Such problems have been ongoing since May 2009, and as of August 2009 the mobile Wikipedia site does not work at all for most devices.
On the other hand, several Wikipedia users have each provided a mechanism by which it is possible to gain quick access to articles using the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).
These methods are listed here, to provide a choice and so that access can continue if any one should become unavailable. Only one need be chosen, and the corresponding address, or URL, would normally be entered as a bookmark in a wireless device (as opposed to being used with a PC).
Comments and suggestions regarding these interfaces should be added to the discussion page for this article.
