'''Paleolimnology''' (Greek: ''paleon''=old, ''limne''=lake, ''logos''=study) is the branch of Limnology studying historic (Archeological and Geological) properties of inland fresh and brackish water bodies. These properties include physical, chemical, ecological, geographical, hydrological, zoological and biological aspects of extracted Sediment cores. Paleoliminology recently got an unusual amount of publicity from ''The_Colbert_Report'', which put the ''Journal of Paleolimnology'' "on notice" on April 17, 2006, for seeking to scientifically explain the miracle of Jesus walking on the Sea of Galilee. ==External links== *Indiana University Biology Dept.
