Shaykh Tusi born in Tus, Khorasan, Iran in Ramadan 385 A.H. (October 995)

At the age of 23, He moved to Baghdad to join the great center of Islamic knowledge. He lived in Iraq all of his life, and came to be known as the sole master of Fiqh after the death of his mentor, Sayyed Murtadha. He has several books and treatises on Kalam, Tafsir, Hadith, Ilm ar-Rijal, Usul and Fiqh.

He died on 22nd Muharram, 460 A.H. (2 December 1067)

Of the four authoritative resources of the Shiites, two are written by Shaykh Tusi. These two basic reference books are: Tahdhib al-Ahkam and Al-Istibsar. Both of these pertain to Hadiths of Islamic Jurisprudential decrees and injunctions.
