Christianity is the religion of about 10 % of the population of Brunei. [1]Contact with Christians in other countries, import of bibles and public celebration of Christmas are banned by decree. [2] Christians in Brunei are not allowed to proselytize. [3] Schools are not allowed to teach Christianity. [4] If religious organizations fail to register, its members can be imprisoned. [5] Teaching of non-Muslim religions in schools is prohibited. [6] Marriages between Christians and Muslims are prohibited. [7] People, who change their religion from Islam to another, are subject to societal and official pressure. [8] Bibles are prohibited. [9] There have been 0.6% Evangelicals in 1996. [10]

[edit] Roman Catholic Church

There are three Roman Catholic parishes in Brunei. [11] They belong to the apostolic Vicariate in Brunei. [12] The Right Reverend Cornelius Sim is a bishop and the Apostolic Vicar of Brunei. [13] He was ordained bishop in 2005. [14]
