Thomas Jefferson University is an independent health sciences university located in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States. The university consists of three consituent colleges, Jefferson Medical College, Jefferson College of Graduate Studies, and Jefferson College of Health Professions as well as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Jefferson Medical College was founded in 1824 and became Thomas Jefferson University on July 1, 1969. As an academic health care center, Jefferson is involved in education, medical research, and patient care.
