when i was just a little girl i asked my mother, what will i be?... will i be pretty? will i be rich? and this is what she said to me..... I might at some point add a small section on al-Qiyaamah the Islamic Day_of_judgment because this page (despite the vague title) has turned out to be very Christian. gren I think this article leaves a lot to be desired. It is suggestive that beliefs in the Last_Judgement can all be dated to about the same time period, around the 6th century BCE, and the same world region, Persia proper of the Persian_empire. Possibly Last_Judgement Mythology originated in Zoroastrian Prophecy (which may be older, though that is disputed; believers were promised rewards at the Last_Judgement for fighting Ahriman), from where it probably spread to Jewish Eschatology as well as to Persian religions and certain Indian belief systems. From the Jewish beliefs it then spread to Christian beliefs, and was taken up by Islamic beliefs, as well. I think it is very misleading to suggest that only Christians believe in a Last_Judgement, or that Catholics have a unique take on the matter without detailing other Christian and non-Christian beliefs, as well. (All this is assuming a Rationalist Deconstruction of the Mythology, of course. Another point of view would be to point out that all of these Religions have this belief in common, regardless of their possible inter-relationships. This should be examined from Social and Socio-political points of view, since beliefs in a Last_Judgement have driven much of Sectarian conflicts in the past 3,000 years.) There are also certain parallels between the concept of Last_Judgement and the Buddhist notion of reaching Nirvana. ==Proposed merger with End_Times== *'''Oppose'''. Most Evangelical Christians of whatever Christian_denomination or Theology believe in a Last_Judgment; so do Roman_Catholics AFAIK. The End_Times article is about specific Prophecies coming out of the Millerite, Jehovah's_Witness, and Dispensationalism movements about how the end of the world and Second_Coming are supposed to be imminent. This is a minority position among Christians, even in the USA. The articles are about two entirely different things. Smerdis of Tlön 03:43, 12 July 2005 (UTC) *'''Oppose'''. I agree that End_Times beliefs are about something different from Last_Judgement. End_Times beliefs concern themselves with Signs that we live in the last Millenium before the Second_Coming. They include beliefs about the Rapture, when good Christians would be taken up into Heaven to avoid being subjected to the trials of the Apocalypse.
