Rediff.com India, NASDAQ: REDF is a news, information, entertainment, and shopping portal. It was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Mumbai, India with offices in New Delhi and New York, USA.
As per Alexa rating [1], Rediff is the No. 5 Indian web portal. It is the only India-based website to appear in first 100 websites. It has more than 250 employees.[2] At least 67 per cent of the 5 million visitors[3] to Rediff.com hail from India while the rest come primarily from the USA and UAE.[4] Rediff.com also offers one of the oldest and largest Indian weekly newspapers, India Abroad, which was founded in 1970 by Gopal Raju.[5] Rediff.com acquired India Abroad in April 2001 from Raju, its publisher and creator. - Rediff Mail: Web based e-mail which has around 65 million registered usernames.[6] It offers unlimited free storage space. Rediff recently launched an AJAX based mail interface. Rediff Mail also allows users to send and receive mails in many Indian languages on windows OS.

In the SEC filing for the fiscal year 2007, the company disclosed that it was named as a defendant in a criminal complaint (RCC Complaint Number 76 of 2000), filed before the Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Pune, India, charging commission of an offense under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code, for providing a search facility that enabled Internet users to view pornographic, objectionable and obscene material.
A separate complaint was filed by the Indian Music Industry, a society representing various music companies in Magistrate’s Court India against three of the company directors for providing links to MP3 sites through its directory violating Section 51 of the Indian Copyright Act 1957.
Another complaint was filed by Super Cassettes Industries Limited, a producer and publisher of sound recordings and audio visual songs in India, against Rediff.com in the High Court of Delhi (Suit No. C.S. (O.S.) 736 of 2007) charging violations of the Indian copyright law through placement on their website of video clips of certain songs from two Hindi films (Nishabd and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.).
