It contains the relics of St. Bartholomew apostle, and is located on Tiber_Island. Emperor Otto built this church to host the relics of St. Bartholomew. The church was dedicated to Adalbert_of_Prague, friend of Otto, but the dedication changed upon arrival of the relics. The relics are located within a bath under the major altar. They were sent in Rome from Benevento, where they had arrived from Armenia in 809; it is possible that the removal of the relics from Benevento forced Otto to siege of the city against Pandulf II. In 2000, it was dedicated by John_Paul_II to the memory of the new Martyrs of the 20th and 21st century. This memory is taken care of by the Community_of_Sant'Egidio, who also painted the icon on the main altar. The Cardinal_Priest of the ''Titulus S. Bartholomaei in Insula'' is Francis_Cardinal_George. ==References== * Nyborg, Chris, "San Bartolomeo all'Isola" ==External links== {{Commons|San Bartolomeo all'Isola}} Bartolomeo Isola {{Italy-struct-stub}}
