Rest in Peace, James
Rest in peace, James. You will be missed.
** Sad news -- it looks like James's body has been found. This is very, very sad, and my heart goes out to the Kim family and James's co-workers at CNet. I'm especially heartbroken for the family.
Some of you may have already heard, but CNet's MP3 editor, James Kim, is missing somewhere in Oregon along with his family.
The Kims took a road trip to Oregon over Thanksgiving and never returned -- no phone calls, no messages, no word period. They've been missing for a week.
I'm really saddened about this. I didn't know James personally, but he's a great editor and seems like a really nice, down-to-earth guy. And factor in his missing wife and young children, and this could end up being a real tragedy, especially with the treacherous mountain roads in Oregon.
I really, really hope he and his family make it back safe and sound. If you're in the Oregon area, please keep your peepers peeled for Mr. Kim or any other clues. This site has all the official info you need to know. If you've seen anything, please, for the love of God, speak up!
In other news, GamePro is moving! We're headed back to San Francisco to reunite with out MacWorld and PC World brethren. I'm less-than-excited from a commuting point of view (I live in the East Bay), but hopefully I'll be moving much closer in the next month or two.

I thought the picture I saw on the news looked somewhat familiar but it just hit me now. He died trying to save his family; a hero, if you will. Best of luck to his family and friends.Posted at: 2006-12-07 13:13:42.0

The moment I heard the report that the wife and kids were found and that James had went out for help, I knew that this thing wasn't going to have a happy ending. He was very brave to venture out alone in that type of weather, but, as we know now, it would have been better to just stay in the car.pPosted at: 2006-12-12 15:09:17.0
man that sounds really bad i hope they turn out all right and i wish them the best of luck :(Posted at: 2006-12-15 19:10:24.0

O jeez, that's horrible.Posted at: 2008-04-27 03:23:17.0
I've almost been lost numerous times in that same area. Combine the darkness and bad weather, and that place is a veritable trap. I was so sad when they finally found his body. I held out hope till the end. James will definitely be missed. RIPYou must be registered and logged in to post comments.
