John Mayer cruises into next year

June 23, 2008 04:06 PM

John Mayer had such a good time on this year's inaugural Mayercraft Carrier cruise that he's decided to do it again.

The four-night Mayercraft Carrier 2 cruise will leave from Long Beach, CA, March 27, 2009, and spend a day in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The party at sea on the Carnival Splendor cruise ship will include non-stop music, contests and theme nights, according to the event's website. Alt-rock outfit Guster has been announced as the first of many acts that will take part.

Prices start at $849 per person based on double occupancy, and cabins are currently on sale. Details are available at the Mayercraft Carrier website.

Meanwhile, Mayer is in Europe through the end of the month and he'll launch his North American summer tour July 2 at Milwaukee's Summerfest. Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen will join him on the first leg, which is scheduled to visit US cities from coast-to-coast, as well as Toronto, through early August.

The second leg kicks off August 19 in Charlotte, NC, and sticks to the East Coast through the end of the month. Paramore will open the first couple of shows on that run, and OneRepublic will take over from there. Mayer's North American itinerary is listed below and overseas dates can be found at his website.

The singer/songwriter/guitarist is also gearing up for the July 1 release of "Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles," which was filmed last December at the Nokia Theater. The two-CD/DVD and Blu-Ray package features three distinct sets: an acoustic performance, a set with the John Mayer Trio (featuring Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino), and a performance with Mayer's full band.

The live collection follows Mayer's 2006 Grammy-winning release, "Continuum," which spawned the No. 1 adult-contemporary track "Waiting on the World to Change." Mayer's latest single, "Say," is currently making waves on pop, adult and mainstream charts, and is streaming at his MySpace page.
