Sub Pop founder Bruce Pavitt used the Sub Pop Singles Club series to continue the eclectic curatorial vision he started with his mid-1980s fanzines and cassette compilations known as Subterranean Pop. In the process, he revitalized the indie single and brought the cream of the underground crop to record buyers.
