Football FernsThe Football Ferns

The Football Ferns are New Zealand's national women's football side and are the current champions of Oceania.

In 2007 the Ferns qualified for their second FIFA Women's World Cup in China, sixteen years after the first where they showed signs - against three of the world's best sides - that the team could make the jump to the top level of competition despite limited experience in recent years.

That experience looks set to grow as the Oceania Confederation, of which New Zealand are perennial favourites, has direct entry into all FIFA tournaments.

If form holds, and with the benefit of a reinvigorated international programme at senior and age-group levels, the Football Ferns can look forward to regular, and increasingly competitive, appearances at Olympic Games and World Cups.
